What Is Javanese Batik?

Javanese batik is an artistic heritage of Javanese culture from generation to generation. Javanese batik patterns have different. This difference is due to each pattern has a meaning, not just an image but the pattern implies that they get from their ancestors, the adherents of animism, dynamism or Hindu and Buddhist. Javanese batik developed in many areas such as Solo, Yogyakarta and Pekalongan.

Batik is a part of Indonesian culture that is passed down through generations. Javanese women in the past made their skills in batik for a living, so that in the past, batik work is exclusively women's work to finding "Batik Cap" which allows the entry of men into the field. Tradition of batik was originally a tradition for generations, so that sometimes a batik motif originated from a particular family. Some batik motif could indicate a person's status. Some tadisional batik motif only used by the family palace of Yogyakarta and Surakarta. Other regions of Indonesia have their own unique patterns that normally take themes from everyday lives, incorporating patterns such as flowers, nature, animals, folklore or people. Batik is the art of visual culture that has the beauty and contain philosophical meaning in each of its motives. Currently Indonesian batik has a wide variety of motifs and patterns.
